Tuesday Evenings 7 to 8 pm
Foothills Unitarian Church
1815 Yorktown Ave.
Fort Collins, CO 80526
Each Tuesday, we gather in our sanctuary to engage in a
quiet time of mindful meditation. Our sessions are open to
the public and are led by Sharon Kreider. Sharon has been
practicing meditation since 1979, and is currently participating
in the 3 year Community Dharma Leader program (a teacher
training program through Spirit Rock & Insight Meditation
Society). She has offered meditation instruction since 1991
and is committed to a life of greater awareness and insight.
Sharon shares the following words about our Tuesday night
sessions:
“Mindfulness meditation has to do with waking up
and living in harmony with oneself and the world. It has
to do with examining who we are, with questioning our view
of the world and our place in it, and with cultivating some
appreciation for the fullness of each moment we are alive.
Mindfulness is not esoteric or mysterious: it is a skill
that you can learn and acquire, but it takes practice. The
Mindfulness Hour is designed for you – wherever you
are on your meditating journey.”
You are invited to wear comfortable clothing and to bring
a cushion or mat, or you may use the sanctuary chairs. Each
weekly meditation session will include brief instruction,
meditation time and centering music. Weekly attendance is
not required although it will allow you to gain more from
your Mindfulness practice.
There is no fee for the Mindfulness Hour, but a Dana bowl
will be available to help cover the costs of offering this
ongoing program . (Dana is Sanskrit/Pali roughly meaning “to
give with heart.”)
On the first Tuesday of each month Sharon will also offer
an additional time of instruction from 6:30 to 7 pm. On the
third Tuesday of each month, all Mindfulness Hour participants
are invited to stay for group dialogue from 8 to 8:30 pm.
